Meet Elizabeth Peters, LMSW

Feeling broken?

Maybe your body & brain are doing exactly what they needed to do, to cope.

I believe in beginning right there: assuming that you’re not just a total screw-up, assuming that there’s a story that makes sense behind the behaviors that drive you crazy, and assuming that your brain and body want to get well - they just need some support getting there.

I focus on working with people who are struggling with anxiety, with trauma survivors, and with individuals who are grappling with painful relationships or spiritual hurt. One thing they tend to have in common is brains and bodies that both need support to find the way forward.

About Me

I’ve always been a curious person and deeply interested in people’s stories. I’ll never forget the wonder of discovering the memoir section at my branch library as a teenager – eventually reading through almost all of the titles on that shelf! (I’m still kind of nerdy about making visits to the library and scouting out new books….)

Prior to becoming a therapist, I spent years working with domestic abuse survivors who were grappling with trauma symptoms and panic attacks, navigating difficult parenting and family estrangement, or reeling from related spiritual harms. I quickly realized that my favorite part of that role was bearing witness to the healing process, and I eventually became a therapist so I could do that full time! It’s a treasure to now hold people’s stories at the precise moments when they experience stuck places releasing through EMDR, old narratives exhaling under new cognitive insights, and overwhelmed bodies process through gentle somatic work.

I currently work in the group therapy practice Mosaic Mental Wellness and receive supervision from EMDR and trauma therapist, Christina Granados, LSCSW. After checking in on the iPad in the Mosaic waiting room, get yourself a mug of tea or coffee, and I’ll be right out to welcome you back!
